Forty years later, undeniable signs of the Anomaly's long-feared reemergence would appear, forcing the once hostile countries of Angevaine and Navasturia to form an uneasy alliance and jointly develop Project Hypérion, a last-ditch effort against mutual extinction.

Spearheaded by three founders—the visionary architect Fréderic Augustin, his sister Annette, and her husband Dante—Hypérion's colossal dome was a marvel of architecture and engineering only made possible by the discovery of rarified-air and the advent of æther-engineering technology to harness it.
