LORÈNE
LORÈNE

At thirteen Loréne was the sole survivor of a fire and left in a coma. She awoke months later to find that people suffering from exposure to the Acrid Anomaly had flocked to her bedside to be miraculously healed. Soon word of a 'saint beyond the dome' began to spread, even reaching Hypérion.

To ensure her safety, Lorène was relocated in secret to the one place she'd go undetected: Hypérion itself, right under Fréderic's nose. However, to those outside the dome her sudden disappearance led to a prophecy that one day the saint would return to save them.

In the following five years Lorène struggled with frustrating gaps in her memory. Until on her last year of Military Academy training her amnesia finally began to subside, compelling her to search of answers to her elusive past outside the dome.

Loréne discovers a church prophesying her return, but refuses to take on the role of 'saint' realizing she'd be little more than a passive pawn. She opts instead to join the knights of the church and use her training to lead a small team against Hypérion, all the while recovering more of her memories and learning to control her abilities.

ELÉNA

Eléna is the last heir of house Delamare, one of the oldest noble families dating back hundreds of years, and the original founders of the Ordo Templi Corvidae or the Ravensworn Order.

Eléna plays the part expected of her in the Court by day, and leads the newly formed Ravensworn Order by night. Her dream is to find the sword of prophecy known as Gallistur; which her forefathers believed held the power to end the Acrid Anomaly once and for all.

While she inspires loyalty from her followers, she struggles with human interaction and emotions. Orland is one of the few with which she can confide, as she considers him a brother and dear friend.

She recently fell into a relationship with Kathryn, a recruit of the Order, but her inability to admit her feelings led to a falling out. After their break-up Kathryn left on a mission and never returned. Eléna blames herself and refuses to stop searching for her.

Félix

Félix was an orphan born with an extremely rare condition known as Miasmata, denoted by his white hair, red eyes, and a heightened sensitivity to Acridity levels.

His ability to detect the slightest trace of airborne contamination made him a perfect candidate for the specialized military unit known as the Halcyon Garde; the elite first responders of acrid-related threats to the city. At age twenty he would go on to become the youngest Captain in Hypérion history.

Years later, Félix is haunted by his involvement in Frédéric's brutal coup. As a young cadet his unit had received orders to kill anyone seeking to enter the city, including families and children. Fredéric successfully covered up the truth.

Now the weight of this incident is causing him to question his faith in Hypérion. When he discovers that Rafael’s father has been murdered, Félix disobeys direct orders to capture the young cadet, and takes it upon himself to help him.

ORland

House DuRoche was renowned for generations of mining and metal smithing. That all came to an end when the oligarchy of Nobles voted to forcibly seize all of Angevaine's mining resources and dedicate them to project Hypérion's dome.

As a young man Orland watched as the other noble houses turned on his family, taking everything they’d built. His father’s refusal to comply forced the court’s hand, sentencing him to death to serve as a warning.

Soon after, his little sister Vivienne would succumb to an illness they could no longer afford to treat, and his mother would take her own life. Eléna convinced her family to take Orland on as a ward in secret; ever since he's considered her his sister and would protect her with his life.

This tragedy has left Orland an honorable yet conflicted man who drives away his pain with drink. When Rafael joins the order Orland finds a new purpose in the boy who looks to him as a surrogate father.

VOLKER

The enigmatic Lord Volker is a feared figure among the residents of Hypérion. The masked knight’s identity and how he came to be High King Fréderic’s right hand remains elusive to all.

Volker is rumored to be behind a series of murders targeting nobles and any political oppositions to Fréderic’s rule. A bloody “VIVI”— latin for 'I survived'—is left behind at each scene in his wake, leading some to speculated that it is someone on a personal vendetta.

Unbeknownst to Eléna, Orland has taken on the identity of Lord Volker. His VIVI calling card is the nickname he gave his deceased sister, Vivienne Du Roche. “Vivi” has now become a symbol of his vengeance.

Rafael saw Volker, on the night his mother disappeared. As Annette was not a target of his revenge, Orland agreed to exile her if she bested him in a duel, defying Fréderic’s orders; an act which echos his deeply conflicted morals.
